Two Hours Back: What I Want Every Woman to Have on October 18

menopause menopause os Oct 11, 2026
World Menopause Day social graphic titled Two Hours Back, featuring a smiling professional woman in black activewear on a Pilates reformer.

Sunday is World Menopause Day.

Every October the internet fills with posts telling women to talk about menopause. Talk to your doctor. Talk to your boss. Talk to each other.

Fine. Talk. But nobody hands you the operating instructions, and talking has never once returned an hour to my calendar.

So this issue is not about awareness. It is about the two hours I get back daily, and how you take yours.

Eight A.M., Hands In The Straps

Reformer Pilates. Hands in the straps. Legs in Tabletop. Nothing free but my voice.

I wear the Meta Ray Ban glasses. A recorder sits at my neck. I speak the idea the moment it arrives and keep moving. By the time I step off that machine, my follow-ups are drafted.

For years I believed the hour I gave my body was an hour my business would not get back. I paid that bill quietly, the way most of us do. Take the class and fall behind. Skip the class and fall apart.

I stopped paying a penalty for taking care of myself. My hands are occupied, and my business is still moving.

AI Tool Spotlight: Apple Generated Subtitles

Apple announced a set of hearing accessibility features at WWDC26, and one of them matters to every woman reading this, whether or not she has ever thought about captions.

Generated Subtitles transcribes spoken audio on-device when no captions exist on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and Vision Pro. Not a subscription. Not another app. A setting on hardware already in your bag.

Why a high performer wants it: auditory processing gets harder in midlife, and it gets harder first in exactly the conditions where money is made. Loud restaurants. Conference rooms with bad acoustics. A client on speakerphone in a car.

You are not missing words because you stopped paying attention. You are missing them because the signal is poor and your processing changed.

Do this today: Settings → Accessibility → turn on Generated Subtitles. Play a video with no captions and watch what your eyes catch that your ears were working overtime for.

Apple also expanded Name Recognition, which alerts you when someone says your name. In a networking room, that alone is worth the update.

Brain Fog × Hands-Free Capture

Say it plainly: recall slows, and you forget names. The commitment you made at 4 p.m. does not carry over to 6 p.m.

For a woman whose income depends on follow-through, forgetting will impact your revenue.

The fix is not a better memory. It is removing recall from the workflow entirely.

One — capture without hands. A wearable recorder, a phone in a pocket, voice notes on a watch. The device matters less than the rule: if you said it out loud, it was recorded. Get consent before recording any conversation, every time.

Two — turn the transcript into the deliverable, not a summary. This is where most women stop short. Do not ask AI to summarize your meeting. Ask it to write the follow-up email and draft the document you promised. Reputation built on delivering notes and articulating follow-through.

Three — send it the same day. A client who hears from you before dinner remembers you differently than the person who took days to follow up.

The Multiplier Nobody Is Using

One recording does not become one asset. It becomes every format a human being might need.

Reading. Captions. Audio. Large print. Another language entirely.

I train adult learners. Some process by reading, not listening. Some need captions. Some need type larger than my slide allows. When my material starts as a transcript, all of those versions already exist. I am not building five deliverables. I am releasing one recording five ways.

Then there is the business case. The DOJ's ADA Title II rule requires state and local government entities to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA text alternatives for audio, captions for video, and real-time captions for live sessions. Larger entities were due April 24, 2026. Smaller ones have until April 26, 2027.

If you train, speak, or sell to public-sector clients, captioned material sits on their procurement checklist. It is a reason you win the contract over someone who ignored it.

Every additional person who can receive your work is another person who can hire you. Once the transcript exists, that reach costs you nothing.

This Week's Challenge: Record One, Ship One

Before Friday: record one client conversation hands-free, with their permission, and take zero notes.

Paste the transcript into your AI tool with one instruction — write the follow-up email and the deliverable I promised on this call, in my voice. Edit it. Send it the same day.

Then notice two things. How much sharper you were in the room when you were not writing. And how the client responded to receiving the work in hours instead of days.

Thirty minutes to set up. You will feel it by Friday.

On October 18

Menopause did not end my performance. It handed me a deadline to build a smarter operating system, and I built it.

For World Menopause Day I am opening my full research — 20 symptoms mapped to every stage, age of onset by ethnicity, and the 20 careers where this costs women the most. No charge.

Get it here: https://menopausemarketreality.netlify.app/

Then send this to the woman you know who is running hot and still closing, and who thinks the fog is a character flaw. It is not. It is a systems problem, and systems get rebuilt.

Reply and tell me what you recorded this week.
